The Greenport Town Board has established a Zoning Commission to develop a Zoning Ordinance for our community. The Commission holds public meetings at Town Hall on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM. Our goal is to protect Greenport’s neighborhoods from incompatible development. A basic land use plan could, for example, prevent a new institutional facility from being built next to private homes, or stop a large resort hotel development on Mt. Merino. We do not want to constrain current or new design, style, or decoration in any way.
We will prepare a preliminary report, which will be presented in public hearing(s) for community input. Based on that feedback, we will revise the draft and submit a final report to the Town Board. Before any zoning plan is adopted as a Zoning Ordinance, the Board will provide public notice and hold a formal hearing.
CHANGE OF TIME FOR THE PUBLIC MEETING OF THE ZONING COMMISSION.
Please be advised that the time of the public meeting for the Town of Greenport Zoning Commission held on the second Tuesday of the month has been changed to 6:00 pm each month, thereafter.
